GITMO
Gitmo (Guantanamo Bay) has been toping the news lately. The whole issue around the prisoners being held in conditions that do not fulfill the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
Another problem aroused, the issue of releasing the inmates into the world again, since most of them were held there because of affiliations with groups that pose threat on world peace.
That was solved, and the close down was on its way with the new US administration. The plan encountered another setback when it was discovered that there were no files for the detainees.
A story in the news today on BBC, showing other layers of the problem. It goes on to explain how some of the chinese inmates cannot be released, as no country will accept them. China has requested their return, but the US will not send them home for fear they will be persecuted.
